I say “semi-finished” because the neck is just roughly scraped and the nut has no string guides filed into it. Basically I need to do all the finishing touches.
I have made a mistake when gluing the fret board down, under the 4th, 5th and 6th frets the fretboard was not clamped down properly and there is a tiny gap that can not be glued down now because the glue that was on the under side of the fret board in that area is rock hard. I have a few options for solving the problem, first I can remove frets 2 to 7 and sand that area down a bit and refit the frets, second I could remove the whole fret board and fit a new one (I don’t want to do this one), third I can reduce the height of frets 4, 5 and 6, this idea is worth trying before doing the first option because if it doesn’t work I will be renewing those frets if I do have to do option 1.
Here are some pictures.
Now I am going to size the nut and string the guitar and see how it plays and if the error on the fret board is causing any problems.
